There is more to life than challenges

What could the point possibly be of finding yourself facing unwanted self imposed challenges daily? This has to count amongst the more irrational behaviours many humans occupy themselves with.

Surely it stands to reason that if you are going to be challenged, that you at the very least find yourself confronted by that which will bring you closer to your overall goals or objectives.

I am currently in training for Iron Man 2011. The challenges that the training presents daily requires huge commitment. I remind myself that I am an Iron Man and that I am going through the training motions to collect my medal next year. The habits and actions required to fulfil this objective repeat themselves daily, from nutrition, training to early morning wake up calls in winter. Brrr. But I know that these actions, habits and challenges are there to ensure that I deliver on my objective and subsequently look forward to engaging them.

How are your current challenges bringing you closer to your objectives? When I look at some of my other daily challenges I often wonder, “What the heck” is this all about?” When did I set myself an objective that would keep me in a constant state of flux with my spouse, or when did I set an objective that I would bemoan the state of business and its accompanying concerns? Nonsense.

Let’s all take a moment to consider what we are doing to our mental health with these unnecessary self imposed no purpose dumb irresponsible state of affairs. Check your challenges at the door. Ask yourself,” which of my many objectives does this challenge relate to” If it doesn’t, boot it.

It is our God given right to celebrate life, claiming our desires and fulfilling them with the actions and circumstances that assist us in being significant. www.kubunye.co.za
